Our Stacking Lacquer Boxes are drawer-type storage boxes made with lacquer paper and featuring ribbon handles. The lacquer paper is made with oil pressed from cashew nut shells. Although it looks almost identical to paper coated with traditional Japanese urushi lacquer and has the same gentle texture and luxuriant appearance, it is safe for people with allergies to urushiol. Japanese lacquer paper combines a special embossed texture, feel, and atmosphere with durability and traditional Japanese beauty. Its richness and warmth make these boxes a perfect addition to any room. Two magnets are built into the corners on the top and bottom of each box, allowing them to be precisely stacked on top of each other.

About the Lacquer Paper Used in Our Boxes
Our lacquer paper is made from oil that has been pressed from cashew nut shells. The cashew tree is related to the lacquer tree, but there is no danger of skin reactions caused by cashew nut oil. Paper coated with paint made from cashew nut oil is almost indistinguishable from urushi lacquer paper, with a similar texture and luster. Using the same process as lacquering a bowl or other item, an artisan painstaking applies multiple layers of cashew-nut-derived coating to the embossed paper.
