Rainbow Stick

Rainbow Stick

Crafted from a single sheet through a unique, internationally patented process, this art piece is truly one-of-a-kind.

Originating from a simple boyhood dream to immortalize the rainbow, the “Rainbow Stick” embodies this vision. It features slender bands of rainbow hues on a clear stick that, when twisted and spun, unfurl expansively, much like a soap bubble. This durable, perpetual rainbow captures and reflects light, never fading and bringing joy to both young and old alike.

Since 2000, we’ve been refining the subtle interplay of light and form that this rotation invokes. Its aesthetic appeal has earned it a place in the Museum Shop at New York’s Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). We are currently seeking museums and art galleries interested in contracting to sell this art object.

Inspired by the traditional Japanese "Matoi"

The unique design of this piece draws inspiration from the "Matoi," a traditional Japanese symbol, and has been meticulously refined since 2000 to achieve its present form. Originally used during the Warring States period to signal the location of military leaders and later by Edo-period firefighters to communicate fire origins and wind directions, the Matoi played a vital role in organizing and motivating firefighting efforts.

This historically significant form has been reimagined as a contemporary art piece, utilizing Japan's advanced manufacturing techniques and the detailed handiwork of skilled artisans due to the delicate nature of the materials involved.

The creation of the Rainbow Stick involved securing an international patent for a unique method of forming a sphere from a single sheet of material, a notable achievement for an art piece. While art usually does not receive patents, the Rainbow Stick is a rare art piece that has achieved this. This technique, which uses a rainbow-colored film, can also be applied to various flexible materials, such as metal, Japanese paper, textiles, and wood, broadening its application to different art forms and interior designs. The Rainbow Stick's elegant shape has garnered admiration from celebrities around the globe.

This captivating sphere is designed to bring joy to people of all ages, backgrounds, and nationalities.
