Corrosion mitigation device using a dry method to remove hydrogen peroxide gas.

In recent years, with the invention of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS cells) by Professor Shinya Yamanaka from Kyoto University and his subsequent Nobel Prize win, regenerative medicine has become more active in Japan, even as a national policy. In regenerative medicine, cells are collected from patients, adjusted and cultured, and then reintroduced into the patient’s body.

Cultivating high-quality cells is necessary to culture them in a clean environment from the time of collection to their return to the body. Similarly, working in a clean environment throughout the research and development process, including the production line, is crucial in the pharmaceutical industry, which focuses on drug development.

The ability to quickly and safely create a clean working environment directly impacts productivity, making it a significant challenge. OPTIMA INC. has developed the PASSTECH series of hydrogen peroxide gas decontamination devices to address these challenges.

Effective Disinfection Power and Safety of Hydrogen Peroxide

This product operates on the basic principle of generating highly sterilizing hydrogen peroxide gas by vaporizing hydrogen peroxide solution and filling the decontaminated area with this gas. It is said that hydrogen peroxide gas, formed from the disinfectant at a gasification rate higher than that of liquid, has 300 times stronger sterilizing power.

Once the decontamination process is completed, the hydrogen peroxide gas (H2O2) is decomposed into water (H2O) and oxygen (O2), leaving no residue. Therefore, it is a highly safe decontaminant.

Achieve a Drying Method using High-Concentration Hydrogen Peroxide Solution

The biggest problem in peroxide gas decontamination is corrosion. Corrosion occurs when water vapor generated during the gasification of peroxide solution condenses on the surface and dissolves in hydrogen peroxide gas.

Competing companies address this issue by installing dehumidifiers to prevent corrosion. Our system is designed to use high-concentration peroxide solution. Using a smaller amount of high-concentration peroxide solution can reduce the generation of water vapor and avoid this problem.
