Next-generation Films Combining Functionality and Processability
Kohjin Film & Chemicals

Achieving technological innovation, reduced environmental impact, and advanced control of air and moisture permeability

Since establishing its original tubular simultaneous biaxially oriented film production method in 1964, Kohjin Film & Chemicals has been developing and manufacturing plastic films for a wide range of applications.

The company’s main products are shrink films, which shrink when heated, and films for converting, which are used in combination with other films. We also offer a lineup of longitudinally uniaxially oriented porous, breathable films, suitable for food, medical, industrial, and a wide range of other applications.

Shrink films made of polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE) are used for outer packaging of instant noodles and multi-packaging of probiotic drinks. The films for converting, mainly made of nylon (NY) and polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), are used for packaging retort pouches and processed meat products. Kohjin Film & Chemicals boasts the top share of the PP shrink film market in Japan and is committed to developing environmentally friendly products.

Problet

Problet

Stretchable yet easy to process, Problet contributes to technological innovation

Problet is a biaxial-oriented PBT film that combines conformability, processability, heat resistance, flexibility, pinhole resistance, and low outgassing properties. Its features make it applicable to a wide variety of industrial and manufacturing sectors, including release films for semiconductor encapsulation, various molding release films, tape base materials, 3D decorative transfers, and lithium battery packaging materials. It is also highly regarded for its "highly stretchable yet easy to process" characteristics. In addition, Problet contributes to reducing plastic usage by replacing laminated PET and Nylon films with one PBT film layer, as well as reducing CO2e emissions, making it environmentally friendly.
Boblet

Boblet

A film that contributes to eco-friendly and smart choices: Boblet

Boblet is an eco-friendly film that contributes to reducing plastic usage and CO2e emissions in various food packaging materials, mainly used for (1) microwavable retort packages, (2) top film for frozen food trays, and (3) top film of 3D package for foods.

1) Microwaveable retort pouches can potentially burst depending on the contents' composition and heating conditions. Boblet helps solve this issue.
2) Boblet combines the features of a biaxially stretched nylon (ONy) film and a biaxially stretched polyethylene terephthalate (OPET) film, allowing the replacement of OPET/ONy structures with a single layer of Boblet.
3) Boblet prevents the curling of packaging materials, reduces plastic usage and CO2e emissions, and also eliminates issues associated with the use of cast polypropylene (CPP).

A microporous film combining both water resistance and moisture permeability: Kohjin TSF

Manufactured using our original production method, Kohjin TSF offers waterproof properties along with highly controlled air and moisture permeability. Our production process allows for flexible pore opening, making it suitable for various uses, including medical and apparel applications.

The air permeability can be adjusted in the range of 200 to 100,000 seconds/100 ml according to customer requirements, ensuring products with minimal air permeability variation. Through pattern lamination with various non-woven fabrics, we can provide the desired texture and color while maintaining air permeability.
