Our KORAI Multi-Essential Oil was born from the notion of cosmetics made using rice and tea, both part of Japanese life since ancient times. Rice oil is made by pressing rice husks, and tea seed oil is made by pressing the seeds of the tea plant. Typically, these husks and seeds are seen as waste, but we recycle them to produce an environmentally friendly essential oil that is full of nutrients.
Our oil is made from 100%-natural rice and tea and is easily absorbed by the skin, leaving no stickiness or oiliness. A single drop can be massaged into the skin or hair after bathing. The oil’s fragrance is a blend of hinoki cypress from Nara Prefecture, tachibana orange from Shizuoka Prefecture, and ooba-kuromoji (a type of shrub) from Aomori Prefecture. It’s an aroma that evokes a relaxing moment of stillness in the forest.

We recognize the important of production that is sustainable and matches the natural rhythms of nature. We insist on using 100%-natural rice and tea seed oil, rich in nutrients and produced in small batches.
The method used to press the rice husk and extract the oil has been carefully chosen to retain the rice’s original nutrients. To properly preserve those nutrients, a week-long, non-chemical refining method is used. Only a little of the precious oil is produced with each batch.
It is vital that the rice husks are fresh. 1,600 kilograms of brown rice produces only 8 kilograms of oil after undergoing the chemical-free refinement process. In other words, the precious essential oil is only 0.5% of the original rice by weight.
