Leakage Risk Assessment & Management Software: Tenchijin COMPASS KnoWaterleak

Online *GIS service that uses space big data to assess the risk of water pipe leakages.

Tenchijin COMPASS KnoWaterleak is a comprehensive system for managing the risk of water pipe leakage. It integrates data acquired from earth observation satellites (Space Big Data) with various information maintained by water utilities, leveraging machine learning (AI) algorithms for analysis.

This system enables the assessment of leakage risks in urban areas, with an approximate coverage of 100 square meters. Consequently, this advanced software can validate and effectively manage the identified risks.

Water utilities can reduce inspection costs by 65% and overall inspection activities by 85%.

Cost Reduction & Efficient Water Leak Detection

KnoWaterleak can potentially enhance water leak detection efficiency, thus enabling users to reduce inspection costs substantially. Water utilities can locate leaks three times greater efficiency than traditional methods by accurately assessing the risk level of water leaks for each 100m x 100m area. Additionally, since the solution helps to eliminate unnecessary inspections, Water utilities can reduce inspection costs by 65% and overall inspection activities by 85%.

How It Works

KnoWaterleak consolidates and presents historical big data of cities including land, weather, and pipe network features. Its proprietary AI algorithm identifies patterns in weather, road conditions, and pipe history to assess the potential risks of water pipe deterioration.

With a spatial resolution of 100m, it evaluates leakage risks across the entire water network and maps the locations of current and future leak incidents. This feature expedites decision-making processes and enhances the efficiency of leakage detection procedures.
The project was initiated through a collaboration.

Numerous Water Utilities Benefit from KnoWaterleak

The project was initiated through a collaboration with Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture. After successfully developing the solution in 2022, it has gained traction, with six cities already opting to implement our solution. These cities include Fukushima City in Fukushima Prefecture, Seto City in Aichi Prefecture, Aomori City in Aomori Prefecture, and Maebashi City in Gunma Prefecture, etc.
