Sustainable Food Packaging for Delivery

In central, northern, and eastern Thailand, rice farming is a major activity. Around 27 million tons of rice straw are discarded yearly after harvest. We found an innovative solution to this waste problem by using this leftover rice straw to develop food containers for delivery services. What used to be discarded rice straw is transformed into sustainable food packaging. Moreover, we’re printing on these food containers using environmentally friendly water-based inks, creating a consistently sustainable food packaging solution.

From 1,000 kg of rice straw, we can produce 15,000 food containers. With an annual waste of around 27 million tons, we could theoretically manufacture 405 billion food containers for delivery services.

Our approach also adds an element of sustainability for the rice farmers. They can sell their rice straw as raw material for food packaging, ensuring a continuous income stream.
