KIRIME: Automatic Grinder-Polisher with Central and Individual Force Modes
IMT Co., Ltd.
Automatic Grinder-Polisher with Central and Individual Force Modes
Two Force Modes, Freely Selectable
KIRIME is an automatic specimen grinder-polisher offering both central and individual force modes. It supports consistent preparation of metals, semiconductor materials, glass, resins, and other materials, from method development to repeated production runs. Maintenance has also been carefully considered: commercially available components are used wherever possible, and the internal layout provides easy access for inspection and servicing.
Select the Optimal Force Mode for Each Specimen
Supports Both Central and Individual Force Modes
KIRIME allows users to select between central force, which applies force to the entire specimen holder, and individual force, which applies force separately to each specimen. In central force mode, a holder for unmounted specimens enables grinding and polishing without resin mounting. In individual force mode, users can process one to six mounted specimens without preparing dummy specimens. The force mode can be selected to suit the specimen shape and observation objective, making KIRIME suitable for applications ranging from research and development to quality control.
Improve Efficiency through Automatic Dosing
Automated Dosing Reduces Operator Workload
KIRIME can communicate with and connect to an automatic dosing system to automate the supply of polishing media. Users can set the dispensing time, interval, and volume. The system supports a wide range of media, including diamond slurry, alumina slurry, and colloidal silica. When colloidal silica is used, a dedicated silica flushing mode rinses the tubing with water after dispensing. By supplying the correct amount of polishing medium at the appropriate time, the automatic dosing system improves efficiency and supports consistent results during long polishing cycles and multi-specimen processing.
From Polishing Tests to Optimized Process Recommendations
Putting Our Specimen Preparation Expertise to Work
Drawing on many years of specimen preparation expertise, IMT's laboratory recommends preparation methods tailored to each customer's material, observation objective, and required surface finish. Support extends beyond equipment selection to the entire process, including system configuration, polishing consumables, process parameters, and operating procedures.
The laboratory also conducts polishing tests using customers' actual specimens, enabling the expected finish and processing conditions to be confirmed before installation. By optimizing conditions for each material and application, IMT helps customers achieve a smooth start-up, reduce operator-to-operator variation, and improve preparation reproducibility.
