The KIRIYAMA RHOTO Series: The Benchmark for Glass Filtration Funnels

Unique One-Hole, Circumferential-Groove Design for Easy Cleaning and Reduced Contamination. A Classic Product since 1964.

KIRIYAMA RHOTO (Kiriyama Funnel)* is a long-selling laboratory glass filter for vacuum filtration that has been used by research and development institutions worldwide since its introduction in 1964. Inspired by the design of a manhole cover, its unique structure features a single central opening and circumferential grooves, making it easy to clean while helping reduce residue and contamination. Made of fully transparent, heat-resistant glass, the funnel allows users to observe the filtration process. It is available in funnel diameters ranging from 8 mm to 185 mm, and the RHOTO 55 (55 mm), RHOTO 150 (150 mm), and RHOTO 185 (185 mm) models are compatible with commercially available filter paper. Widely used in the chemical, pharmaceutical, food, and cosmetics industries, as well as universities and research institutions, the Kiriyama Funnel supports day-to-day laboratory work.

Custom Glass Craftsmanship Backed by JIS Certification

One of our strengths is the ability to custom-manufacture laboratory glassware from a single unit to meet the specific requirements of chemists and researchers. As a JIS R 3503-certified manufacturer of laboratory glassware for chemical analysis, we maintain strict quality control throughout the entire manufacturing process, from material selection to final finishing. JIS R 3503 aligns with ISO 3819, the international standard for laboratory glassware, ensuring a level of quality that meets the needs of research institutions and manufacturing facilities, both in Japan and overseas. In addition, the fully transparent glass construction allows users to observe the filtration process in real time—an advantage over ceramic alternatives—helping improve both operational safety and the reproducibility of experimental results.

Dedicated Receiving Vessels Designed for Use with KIRIYAMA RHOTO

To complement KIRIYAMA RHOTO (Kiriyama Funnel), we offer two dedicated receiving vessels: the KIRIYAMA Suction Bell and the Filtration Flask. The KIRIYAMA Suction Bell is made of HARIO H32 heat-resistant glass and features a robust design with a reinforced connection to the funnel. It is available in six sizes to fit Erlenmeyer flasks from 50 mL to 3,000 mL, and the largest model is coated with a shatter-resistant finish. The Filtration Flask is also designed for use with KIRIYAMA RHOTO and is widely used to collect filtrate during vacuum filtration. Another advantage is that users can source the funnel, receiving vessel, and filter paper together from Kiriyama Glass Works in one place.
